Florida Permitless Concealed Carry
Summary
As of July 2023, Florida allows anyone who meets the legal requirements for gun ownership to carry a concealed firearm without a government-issued permit or mandatory training.
Rights & Rules
- 01.If you are 21 or older, a US citizen/legal resident, and not a convicted felon, you can carry a concealed handgun.
- 02.You do NOT need to apply for a Concealed Weapon License (CWL), pay a fee, or take a firearms safety class.
- 03.You must carry valid identification while carrying the weapon and must show it to a police officer upon demand.
- 04.Open carry (carrying a gun where it is visible to others) remains ILLEGAL in Florida, except in very narrow circumstances (like while hunting, fishing, or camping).
Penalties
- 01.Carrying a firearm into a prohibited place (like an airport, courthouse, or school) remains a serious felony. Openly carrying a gun is a second-degree misdemeanor.
