Summary
Drivers must change lanes or reduce speed when approaching any stationary vehicle with hazard lights or emergency lights activated.
Rights & Rules
- 01.You are required to yield the right-of-way by moving into a lane that is not adjacent to the stationary vehicle.
- 02.If changing lanes is impossible or unsafe, you must reduce speed and proceed with extreme caution.
Penalties
- 01.Minimum fine of $250 for a first offense.
- 02.Minimum fine of $750 for a second offense.
- 03.License suspension for up to two years if the violation results in injury or death.
