Drivers are prohibited from holding a wireless telephone or electronic wireless communications device while operating a motor vehicle unless it is used in a hands-free manner.

- 01.You have the right to use a phone while driving if it is mounted on the dashboard or windshield.
- 02.You have the right to operate a device with a single swipe or tap, provided it is mounted.
- 03.Emergency calls to law enforcement or emergency services are generally permitted even while holding the device.
Penalties
- 01.A base fine of $20 for the first offense.
- 02.A base fine of $50 for subsequent offenses.
- 03.A point added to the driving record for a second conviction within 36 months.
